With the aim of the welfare role being to support our members, we try to assist and co-ordinate support through other Narpo officers and the Force Welfare and Benevolent fund. The role is now shared between Chris Bradley and Vic Smith. Both retired PC's and committed to offering whatever help they can to all members, whether through illness or bereavement.
Additionally a contribution towards travel expenses for hospital visits and/or car parking costs can be recovered from the force welfare fund for members and their spouses/partners. Whilst the fund is there to help us, the account is not bottomless and aims in principal to help those who are in need rather than just because we can claim it. Claims are payable if over £20, the fund has to pay for the account to be administered and it is uneconomical to keep paying out small amounts. You can keep the receipts and claim when you reach £20 if you wish. If you know of a member who needs some help please contact the welfare officers.
or post to Narpo Welfare at Federation office, 1 Queen St Yaxley Peterborough PE7 3JE. Receipts are required if more than the minimum is claimed. (These can be scanned/photographed. The easiest way is to print off the form then photograph it and email.
There are also a number of volunteers called "Post Code reps" who are Narpo members who will visit former colleagues if there is a welfare need. Contact welfare to request a visit.
